Inadequate Images Reflection
A reflection on Herzog's thoughts on "Inadequate Images"
I think that every choice in filmmaking comes back to purpose. What is the purpose in making a film? For me I want to make the world a better place by bringing about new and unique thoughts that will benefit people. I think that a good way to bring about new and unique ideas is with new and unique images. Images can be just what they sound like: pictures. They can also be thoughts and ideas expressed in any other form. I would agree with Herzog's thoughts on how inadequate images are detrimental to humanity. Inadequate images are those that don't force us to change and adapt. Without them humanity stagnates and doesn't improve itself.
Also, inadequate images are just boring. Without new ideas, the piece of content seems unoriginal and a waste of time. I want to be growing and bettering myself. This means not consuming inadequate images. Certainly not creating inadequate images. When just thinking of the term "inadequate images," the person who comes to mind is Edgar Wright. He is a brilliant director who has managed to do so many unique things visually, what I certainly would not call inadequate images. As a result, the points he is making with the images gain more attention and are said more effectively. This is my goal in filmmaking: to convey ideas with more adequate images.
